Aditya Hridayam or Aditya Hrudayam is a powerful devotional prayer dedicated to Lord Surya, The Sun god. Adithya Hrudaya is considered as the greatest Vedic hymns addressed to Lord Surya, the Sun God. Aditya Hridyam Stotra appears in Yudha Kanda of the great Epic, Ramayana. Lord Rama during the battle with Ravana was not able to kill him even after a fierce battle, during that time the devas assembled in the sky and tells Rama to seek the advice of Sage Agasthya Muni. According to the devas instruction Lord Ram asks the advice of Agastya muni to teach him how to kill Ravana.
Sage Agasthya teaches Lord Rama this great prayer and Lord Ram subsequently was able to kill Ravana.
